Strong impact of climate change on a poor and aged population, article by Juan Ignacio Manchiola, Argentina, Rena News

Buenos Aires, 10th July 2008 (RENA)- Recent demographic statistics of ECLAC reported on a growing ageing population and the persistence of large gaps of inequality in income distribution in Latin americas. At the request of RENA, experts analyzed the data in the context of climate change. They warned that an old and impoverished citizenry will be more vulnerable to disastrous scenario that is looming. If agricultural policies in vogue left unchecked, the food crisis could be much worse, it warned.
